Hello again!

Here's a bit more about me and my passions.

I’m a UX designer with a passion for creating meaningful experiences for users through design. With seven years of experience as a Software Interaction Designer in corporate environments, I’ve developed a deep understanding of how to create user-centered designs that meet both user needs and business goals. I believe that good design should be simple, intuitive, and accessible to everyone, regardless of their technical expertise. I also believe in the importance of iterative design and testing, and I’m always looking for new ways to improve my skills and stay up-to-date on the latest design trends and techniques.

 

Before settling on a career in UX design, I tried my hand at several other professions, including robotics, snowboard instructing, and horse carriage driving. While I enjoyed these experiences, none could compete with my love for design and the opportunities it provides to make a real difference in people’s lives.

In my free time, I enjoy exploring the great outdoors through activities like horseback riding, hiking, fishing, and canoeing. I’m from a small town in southern Maine, and I love immersing myself in the local culture and spending time with my family.

Design Process

Here's some insight into my design process.

1. Discovery

I use a four-step iterative agile process starting with discovery. Discovery is time spent on understanding all aspects of the project/design. I work with the team to identify business requirements, initiatives, and goals. Answer who are we designing for, and what is the problem statement or desired outcome? Gather key insights through research and identify solution requirements. Flush out expected behaviors of the solution and how we will measure success. Finally, we discuss our timeline for design completion, research, and release. 

2. Design

Next, I begin designing. During the design process, I review the information gathered during the discovery meeting and begin workflow diagrams and wireframes. Critiques and reviews are completed at each step of the design process. I then transition to mockups and low-fidelity prototypes. All work is then reviewed with UX team members before bringing mockups to the “Converge” meetings. Designs may come back to this step multiple times depending on the conclusions from the “Converge” step.

3. Converge

This step brings the entire team together to review the mockups and prototypes created. This is time to review the business goals, requirements, and dev efforts. Designs may cycle through the “Design → Converge” process multiple times depending on the outcome of the discussion. Designs may also move into the “Validation” step of the flow or be pushed into production depending on the design’s overall complexity and user impact.

4. Validate

During this step, mockups and prototypes are brought through the UX research process with the aid of a UX research team or myself. We confirm again who the target audience is, what the business goals are, what questions we have for users, and when results need to be returned. These are answered during research preparation meetings between the UX/research and product teams. Once the research is complete, findings are quantified and presented. Based on the findings, designs may need modification.
